“Time heals nothing unless you move along with it.”
-Unkown
What has time taught you? Do you think it heals all wounds? Do you gain perspective or does time just pass?
Much like how the bark on a tree grows around its scars, so do we. It doesn’t change the scar, it doesn’t heal the scar – the tree continues growing, all the while the bark slowly covers the scar. It may leave a bump, or perhaps a permanent mark, but it the scar will always remain. Our grief ebbs and flows like the tides. Some days the waters are calm and clear, whereas other times the waters are roaring and raging with intensity; so much so, we’re unsure if we’ll ever be whole again.
If we want to heal, we must learn to move with time. Remaining in the past only deepens the wound; we keep picking at it while simultaneously trying to heal it – trying to understand what happened. Only when we live in the present, will the why reveal itself. It will continue to present itself until you finally recognize it, face it, accept it, and move on.
