Building a great life doesn’t just happen – you have to make it happen. You have to build it with intention, with purpose. It requires time, effort, patience, set backs, progress, anxiety, worry, fear, excitement, and everything else under the sun. Make the decision, right now, to start working towards the best version of yourself and to live the life you’ve always dreamed of. Dream big and be amazed at the results.
Dream Big – How to get started:
Close your eyes and a take a few minutes to shut off your mind from everything. Take long, deep breaths, inhaling through your nose and exhaling slowly through your mouth.
Think of your mind like an operating system. I have an iPhone, so I close out any running “programs” in the back of my mind like I would on my phone. Bad day at work? Swipe up. Argument with a loved one? Swipe up. Feelings of anxiousness and worry? Swipe up.
Step two: surround yourself with feelings of love.
Now that your mind is clear of all societal clutter, imagine being engrossed in a wave of warmth and love. It surrounds your entire body; in between your fingers, your toes, your face – everywhere. Let the feelings of fuzziness warm your heart. Soak it all up like a kitten in the sun – bask in it.
Keep your mind clear and open. If anything tries to pop back up, close it back out. It’s spring cleaning and the doors and windows of your mind and heart are completely open to dispel everything that no longer serves you. Goodbye and good riddance.
Step three: lock in your vision.
Shift your attention to the spot directly in between your eyes and hold it there. Focus on it. Start to imagine the life you want. Play it out in your minds eye like a movie you’ve watched countless of times. The layout of your home, the essence you want it to have, the friends and family that surround you, the job you’ve always dreamed of, the freedom to do whatever you want. Dream BIG.
Don’t forget to define the details, like how the scent hits your nostrils the moment you come home. Or, the structure of your home and the floor plan, and the many hiding spots perfect for playing hide-n-seek with your kids/grandkids. How beautiful the view is outside the window while you admire the little ones playing with dirt. How nice it is to sit out on the deck during sun sets, with a cup of iced tea to wind down after a long summers day. All the details you can possible imagine.
Notice the sensation you get within the depths of your soul and reflect on it.
