“Food for the body is not enough. There must be food for the soul.”
-Dorothy Day
What feeds your soul and how does it feed it?
Serving others is what feeds my soul, especially when they are having a rough time. It makes me feel useful, like I have a purpose.
Someone I work with has been going through a rough patch, trying to figure out what they want to do with their life. The other week, the topic of setting goals came up. Out of curiosity, I asked, “What’s your dream job? Like, the pie in the sky type job?” We talked about that for awhile and I encouraged them to pursue that. I pulled up the goals worksheet that I like to use, and explained it, and they seemed interested. I sent the sheet to them so they could use it if they want.
It’s these types of conversations that I really enjoy having. They’re more important than people may realize. I don’t care much about the weather, or what so and so did, or what the latest reality T.V star did. I care about life and the potential that every day brings. When I find myself in the middle of a great and meaningful conversation, I get hyped up and excited.

What are your thoughts on the matter?
