My favorite activities are pretty much anything that I get to do under the nice, warm, sun.
-Gardening. Sometimes it is better to either garden in the morning, before it gets too hot, or in the evening. The sun is still out, but it’s not as harsh. Last year, I tried my hand at chaos gardening; took some seeds and sprinkled them around, threw a bit of dirt on top and hoped for the best. It actually worked!!
-Kayaking. Now, this one is best done in the middle of the day. My kayak open; I just sit on top and I’m fully exposed to the elements. I get to enjoy basking in the sun while I toot around in the water. It’s probably my most favorite activity in the summer time. I went out maybe once or twice last year so my goal is to get out even more this next summer.
-Swimming/floating on water. Especially on a nice hot day, with a cocktail in my hand; ugh it truly is the little things in life.
-Fishing. It may not be super physical, but it is a fun activity nonetheless.
-Walking around in the woods by myself. I enjoy company from time to time, but being alone in the woods is a whole different experience. Bonus points if you don’t listen to music and focus on the sounds around you!
-Snowboarding. So far, I’ve only done this once, and I fell and broke my tailbone. My instructor had us go on the lift and when I got to the point of sliding off, that spot was COVERED in ice; rock, solid, ice. I immediately fell and smashed my tailbone. I limped it off and tried to continue. I couldn’t figure out how to navigate very well, and I kept biffing it super hard on the way down – hitting my tailbone again, and again, and again. Finally, with tears in my eyes and pain swelling, I angrily unhooked myself from the board and limped the rest of the way down the hill. Did I go see a doctor, you ask? Nope. There’s not much they can do for a broken tailbone so I figured why waste my money?? I plan to try again, but I needed time to heal first. I hope to do more of this once more snow covers the ground.
