“Find something you are passionate about and keep tremendously interested in it.”
-Julia Child
What are you most passionate about and do you dedicate enough time to this passion? How can you do more to cultivate your passions?
One thing that I’ve come to realize about my hobbies and passions is that they all have different levels. There are several of them where I want to do more of it, but I don’t know what to create; E.G.: writing, crocheting, etc. One that I always get lost in is sewing/quilting. I’ll work on it sporadically, and I always lose track of time and end up staying up way too late. It’s always worth it, though. I used to rush through my projects because I was impatient. Now, I try to embrace slowing down more. To me, being a quilter is similar to being an engineer. I rarely use patterns or designs, often making it up as I go and being surprised at the results.

My first quilt ever. This was for my textile and design class. I did use a pattern for this one since it was required. However, I made some alterations with the colors. As you can see, I made the top of the quilt lighter, like the water is at the top of the sea. The further down it goes, the darker it becomes.
This one was a baby quilt that I made; first time making up a pattern.

This one was at a quilting retreat – yes those exist – where they had the fabric, patterns, and sewing machines. All you needed to do was show up with your supplies and have a good time.

What are your thoughts on the matter?
