Hey everyone! Sorry for the lack of posts as of late. May has been a busy month! I’m attempting to get caught back up on my Short Story Saturday posts.
Genre: Heist
Word: circle
Phrase: down for the count
Word count: 241
“As everyone can see, the circle represents our mark,” he points to the map. “Exits are here, here, and here. Once the package is secure, find the closest exit and vacate IMMEDIATELY. If you fall behind, you’re down for the count. It’s everyone for themselves.”
They all look back to their leader, waiting for his approval.
“Assume positions and hold until you see the signal,” he directs them.
Everyone scatters to their posts, holding up one hand to indicate they are alert and waiting.
The leader, now in position, sticks his hand up high and makes a fist.
The Blue Team pops out of nowhere, securing the perimeter; threatening anyone who dares to try and enter.
The Red Team posts up at all the exits, ensuring they remain clear and open for a fast getaway.
The Green Team comes barreling in, bringing distractions and utter chaos. Glass shatters, tables flip, creating mass panic.
The leader, now on the premises, picks up a rock and throws it. It hits a server who was about to hand over a large to-go pizza. He runs over, snatches the pizza, and signals to the others that he has secured the package. Just as quickly as it began, it was over.
As they flee, they can hear an announcement:
“We sincerely apologize for the behavior of our local monkeys. They do this randomly, making it nearly impossible to anticipate. Your meals will be on us tonight.”

What are your thoughts on the matter?
