When I was working a 9-5 job with my previous employer, I tried my best to learn all that I could about the business. I had that strong desire to climb the ladder of success, to try and make an impact. I felt compelled to become better, at my job and within my life. I ordered leadership books, watched videos, and even created my own materials to use with my team to encourage them to try and grow. I was trying so hard. Every once in awhile, I would read or hear an excerpt which resonated deeply. I’d write it down on a sticky note and keep it posted on my office cabinet. This post is dedicated to all of those sticky notes.
The Truth about Managing People:
“People are less likely to undermine a decision at the time of implementation if they shared in the making of that decision.”
Brad Sugar’s 30X Life Series:
“Find the thing you fear the most and go DO IT!”
“Simple doesn’t mean easy.”
“Work harder on yourself than you do on your job. YOU are your product.”
“If it is to BE, it’s up to ME.”
This next quote is one I remind myself on a daily basis:
“Doubt kills more dreams than failure every has.“
“You won’t ever be ready until you start.”
“Your job in life is to learn.”
Brad Sugar’s 30X Business Series
“If you don’t grow your people, you can’t grow your business.”
“If you are the ‘Big Fish’ in the pond, find a different pond.”
This next one is another one I think of quite often:
“If you can’t explain it simply, then you probably don’t know it well enough to be teaching it.”
Henry Ford
“Whether you think you can, or you think you can’t, you’re right.”
Take Aways
No matter what you do in life, there is always room for growth, change, and improvement. I don’t think enough people talk about how hard that can be; when you change and the people who surround you stay the same. You try to do the right thing, only to be met with resistance and hostility. The only thing to do when that happens is to cut ties. If you really want to, you could try to talk about it and acknowledge the fact that you’re trying to change. If they don’t support you during your time of growth, then they don’t deserve to be there when you succeed.

What are your thoughts on the matter?
